Early life

Cara Jocelyn Delevingne entered the world on August 12, 1992 in Hammersmith, London. Charles Hamar Delevingne, Sr. is a real estate entrepreneur and her father. She is a native Londoner who spent her formative years in the posh neighborhood of Belgravia.

Poppy Delevingne is one of her older sisters, and she also has a paternal half-brother. Maternal grandparents Sir Jocelyn Stevens, chairman of publishing house English Heritage and nephew of magazine publisher Sir Edward George Warris Hulton and grandson of newspaper owner Sir Edward Hulton, 1st Baronet, was Delevingne’s paternal grandfather.

Janie Sheffield, her maternal grandmother and the granddaughter of the 6th Baronet Sheffield, served as Princess Margaret’s lady-in-waiting.

In an issue for Vogue Italia shot by Bruce Weber when she was just 10 years old, Delevingne made her professional modeling debut alongside Lady Eloise Anson.

In 2009, she made a contract with Storm Management. She spent a year gaining experience in the field before securing a paying position, and she went through two casting seasons before getting her first runway show.

At 2012, while Delevingne was working part-time in the office of a fashion website, she was discovered by Burberry’s Christopher Bailey.

Bailey used her in an ad for the company’s products in the spring and summer of 2011.

When Delevingne first stepped foot on a catwalk, it was for the Burberry Prorsum A/W collection at London Fashion Week in February 2011.
